The basics

What trading futures actually is

No jargon — what you're trading and how the contract works.

süno offers access to energy, metals, and index futures. Go long or short instantly on crude oil, gold, copper, and indices, and take advantage of global economic trends, supply shocks, and market rotations.

Futures contracts have fixed expiration dates. You can close positions before expiry or roll them to the next contract month. Most futures traders never take delivery.

Why süno

What you can verify before you deposit

Every claim below is structural — licences, infrastructure and account terms. Nothing here depends on a performance figure we would rather you didn't check.

Four active licences

CMA in the UAE, FSC in Mauritius, CySEC in Cyprus and FSA in Seychelles. Each is verifiable on the regulator's own public register.

Segregated client funds

Client money is held in accounts separate from süno's operating capital, in line with each regulator's client money rules.

Institutional pricing

Quotes aggregated from tier-1 liquidity providers rather than a single internal book, with raw-spread pricing on ECN accounts.

Low-latency execution

Servers co-located near the liquidity venues to shorten the round trip between your terminal and the fill.

50+ currency pairs

Majors, European and Asian crosses, and exotics including USD/ZAR and USD/TRY for traders working African and MENA corridors.

Regional funding methods

Bank transfer, card, and mobile money where available — including M-Pesa, Airtel Money and Mixx by Yas in East African markets.

Published cost schedule

Spreads, commission and swap rates are documented per instrument and per account type, not quoted on request.

Negative balance protection

Where the governing entity provides it, your account cannot be driven below zero by a gapping market.

Multilingual support

Account and platform support across the languages of the markets süno serves, through the trading week.

Instruments

Futures instruments, spreads and specs

Spreads shown are typical minimums under normal market conditions. They widen around news, at session rollover, and in thin liquidity.

Schedule updated —

Major pairs all include the US dollar and account for the bulk of global FX volume. They carry the tightest spreads and the deepest books, which is why they are the sensible place to start.

Position tool

Work out the cost before you take the trade

This calculator includes spread and commission, because leaving them out is how a marginal trade looks profitable on paper. Swap and overnight financing are not included.

Approaches

Six ways traders structure a forex position

These are frameworks, not recommendations. Each one suits a different amount of screen time, risk tolerance and holding period — and none of them removes the risk of loss.

Day trading

Positions opened and closed inside a session, with nothing held overnight. Demands sustained screen time and tight cost control — spread matters most here.

Swing trading

Holding for days to weeks to capture a larger move. Fewer decisions, but positions carry overnight swap and are exposed to gaps at the weekly open.

Trend following

Entering in the direction of an established move and staying in until it breaks. A low win rate with a high average win is normal, and difficult to sit through.

Range trading

Working between defined support and resistance while a pair consolidates. The method fails the moment the range breaks, so the stop placement is the strategy.

Breakout trading

Entering as price clears a consolidation boundary, often around a scheduled release. False breaks are common, and slippage is widest exactly when you need the fill.

Position trading

Holding for weeks to months on a macro view — rate differentials, policy divergence, terms of trade. Requires capital that can absorb long drawdowns.

Platforms

MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5

Both platforms, on desktop, web and mobile, with the same account credentials.

MetaTrader 4

The long-standing standard for retail forex. If you have an existing EA library or a strategy written in MQL4, this is where it runs.

MetaTrader 5

The newer platform, with more timeframes, a faster backtester and depth of market. The right default if you are starting fresh.

  • 21 timeframes and 38 built-in indicators
  • Depth of market and an integrated economic calendar
  • Multi-threaded strategy tester for faster backtesting
  • Hedging and netting account modes

Accounts

Three account types, one cost question

The real choice is whether you pay for liquidity inside the spread or separately as commission. Higher volume generally favours paying it separately.

Standard

All-in spread, no commission

Minimum deposit$100
  • Spreads from 1.0 pip
  • No separate commission
  • Full 50+ pair range
  • MT4 and MT5 access
  • Negative balance protection where the entity provides it

Suits traders who want one number to reason about, and who trade in modest size.

  • Spreads from 0.0 pips
  • Commission $3.50 per lot per side
  • Aggregated tier-1 liquidity
  • Low-latency execution routing
  • Suited to scalping and high-frequency strategies

Open a Raw ECN account

Pro

Reduced commission at volume

Minimum deposit$20,000
  • Spreads from 0.0 pips
  • Commission $2.50 per lot per side
  • Priority execution routing
  • Named account contact
  • VPS hosting for automated strategies

Suits high-volume and systematic traders where commission per lot is the dominant cost.

Open a demo account with virtual funds and trade the same instruments on the same platforms. Use it to learn the terminal and test a strategy — but note that a demo removes the two things that make live trading hard: real slippage and your own reaction to a real loss.

Accepted brands

Availability varies by entity and country of residence. The methods offered to you are shown in the client portal once your account is opened.

Client funds held separately

Deposits sit in accounts segregated from süno's operating capital, under the client money rules of the regulator licensing your entity.

Withdrawals return to source

Funds are returned to the method used to deposit, up to the deposited amount, before any remaining balance is paid out separately. This is an anti-money-laundering requirement, not a policy choice.

Verification comes first

Identity and address verification must be complete before a withdrawal is processed. Completing it at signup rather than at withdrawal is what makes the difference between hours and days.

No süno processing fee

süno does not add a processing charge on deposits or withdrawals. Your bank, card issuer or mobile money operator may apply their own — those are outside our control.

Third-party payments refused

Deposits must come from an account in your own name. Payments from a third party are returned, which protects you as much as it protects us.

Published rates, not quoted ones

Conversion rates and any method-specific limits are shown in the client portal before you confirm, so the figure you approve is the figure that moves.

Risk controls

The tools that decide whether you last

Cost and execution matter, but survival is a function of position sizing and exits. These controls are available on every account type.

Negative balance protection

Where your governing entity provides it, a gapping market cannot push your account below zero and leave you owing a balance.

Stop-loss orders

Set the exit before you enter. Note that a standard stop is not guaranteed — in a gap it fills at the next available price.

Take-profit orders

Close automatically at a defined level, which removes the decision from the moment you are least equipped to make it well.

Price alerts

Get notified at a level instead of watching the chart — useful when the alternative is over-trading out of boredom.

Margin monitoring

Live margin level in the terminal, with margin call and stop-out thresholds published in advance rather than discovered under pressure.

Segregated client funds

Client money held separately from company operating funds, under the client money rules of the licensing regulator for your entity.

FAQ

Futures, answered plainly

01 Do I need to take physical delivery?

No. Most futures traders never take delivery. Close before expiry, roll your position, or use cash settlement.

02 What happens when a futures contract expires?

Contracts settle automatically; traders typically close or roll to the next month.

03 How much leverage is available?

Gold: 500:1. Oil and silver: 200:1. Copper and UK100: 100:1.

Getting started

Three steps, and the one that takes longest

Registration is quick. Verification is the step that determines how fast everything afterwards moves — including your first withdrawal.

STEP 01

Register

Create an account with your name, email and country of residence. Your country determines which süno entity holds the account, and therefore your leverage cap and protections.

STEP 02

Verify and fund

Upload proof of identity and address. Do this before you deposit rather than after — an unverified account cannot withdraw, and that is where most delays come from.

STEP 03

Trade

Download MT4 or MT5, or use the browser terminal. Start on a demo alongside the live account if you have not traded the platform before.
